Day 61 - Bill and Jackie

Foster City – Bill and Jackie - 91 miles total and 25.8 mpg. Totals for the trip, 9289 miles, 26.9* mpg. Those are the stats.

A very nice day today. Great weather, and a nice visit with good friends.

We (S-H: The royal we…) got off to a late start. We thought to take a hike, and to have lunch on the ocean, but we were out of time before we got started. So instead it was dog park and a sandwich at home. Some days you just can’t quite get moving.

We got started for Bill and Jackie’s around 3pm, just about when we intended. Jackie had given us a scenic route to take, which we did, and it was nice – and quite a bit better than the normal all freeway route. Maybe took longer, maybe not – but it was interesting.

Jackie and Sally-Heath
We drove to their home without a problem – great directions coupled with a Google Maps dry-run! What a wonderful home. About an acre, much of it filled with plants of all kinds, a large pond fed by a gurgling stream (powered by a pump) and full of fish. The house is – well – very impressive and very nice indeed.

Bill and Jackie
There are two new additions to the family – the python and the two lizards now have two brothers – Great Danes, Max and Deuce. Their boys have only been home for two days, so there is still a lot of acclimation to be accomplished. They seem well adjusted already, but only time will tell of course. What great dogs! They didn’t exactly get to meet Jake and Woody. The pairs occupied the yard at different times. I’m sure each pair was well aware of the other, but they didn’t get a direct sniff. Only third party sniffs.

The Woodruff family!
Bill and Jackie took us to a Malaysian restaurant. It was wonderful. About 20 miles from their home, and very close to Bills’ office. We had Black Pepper Dungeoness crab, which was great, and several other things. Each dish was excellent. The restaurant does a great business, and it is easy to see why. Bill and Jackie are well known there as well, and we were comp’ed appetizers and desert!

Back to the house, feed the lizard, some conversation and we’re on the road home. It was a short visit, which is always difficult, and I wish it could have been longer – but we will see each other again soon, I think, perhaps in Scottsdale later this year.

Sally-Heath was the designated driver, and she got us home safely. Which is where we are now, and it’s late. Goodnight.
